Riviera owners appreciate that the boating world is their oyster and every day they head for family time, relaxation or new adventures near and far in complete comfort aboard their luxury motor yachts.
With each edition of Experience magazine, we present stories from Riviera owners who have discovered new boating destinations or who have shared their passion for boating in familiar waters.
Looking back at the year that was, we have selected some of our most popular stories from 2021 that hopefully will inspire you to take the helm of your Riviera as often as possible to make the most of your ultimate boating experiences in 2022.
Blown about Tasmania, and loving it, on a Riviera 575 SUV
Before taking ownership of Riviera’s first 645 SUV last year, Ray Haddrell was familiar with the exhilaration of Riviera’s sporty and adventurous collection through the 575 SUV he owned previously.
In this adventure, Ray describes his experience aboard the 575 SUV in the wild waters of Tasmania as he circumnavigated Australia’s island state accompanied by three other boats, including a Riviera 45 Flybridge. Enjoy Ray’s story here.
Boating enjoyment with Riviera is a family affair for the Haddrells who have cruised as far north as Port Douglas and completed two trips to Tasmania.
King’s life of adventure leads to a 445 SUV in the Great Lakes
Tim and Tricia King were married more than 40 years ago and, before tying the knot, they agreed theirs would be a life of adventure. The Kings set themselves a 10-year plan to own a sailboat, have children and set off for a life of cruising.
Now, these experienced seafarers have discovered the same spirit of adventure aboard their Riviera 445 SUV, Tricia Anne, which lets them undertake the many boating escapes to be found on the Great Lakes of the US. Enjoy Tim and Tricia’s story here.
Chance encounter leads to a lifetime of Riviera trust
New Zealander John Wainhouse had never heard of the Australian boatbuilder Riviera when, in 1987, he happened upon a Riviera 38 Flybridge. It was one of the first two Riviera yachts to have arrived in New Zealand.
After owning many Riviera motor yachts since then, including his latest the 64 Sports Motor Yacht, John is understandably now a Riviera convert who enjoys the idea of ‘disappearing for two to three months, right around New Zealand’ aboard Free Life II. Enjoy John’s story here.
New York to Kenosha: the Great Lakes adventure on a Riviera SUV
The maiden voyage of Loose Wire, Don Larsen’s Riviera 525 SUV (now the 545 SUV), proved to be a spectacular inland adventure as she cruised to her home port through the Midwest of the United States.
After Loose Wire arrived in New York from Australia, Don skippered his motor yacht 1,500 nautical miles west through a series of rivers, canals, locks and lakes to bring her home to Kenosha, Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Michigan. It was a 12-day cruise that took Don and his crewmate, Rich Popovich, through some of the most iconic inland waterways in the United States. Enjoy John’s adventures here.
Don Larsen enjoyed iconic American scenery on his boating adventure from New York to Kenosha aboard Loose Wire.
