Provincetown Marina on the north eastern tip of Cape Cod set a colourful stage for Bosun Marine’s Rendezvous.
“Provincetown Marina on the northeastern tip of Cape Cod, in the United States, set a colourful stage for the Bosuns Marine Rendezvous. The owners of 10 Riviera motor yachts arrived in August, ready for a weekend itinerary as vibrant and easy-going as the town itself. From sunrise fishing to dune exploration and memorable dinners, the weekend showcased the family spirit that brings Riviera owners together to celebrate life aboard the best luxury yachts.
Cape Cod’s timeless character near golden hour.
Living aboard is a feeling Bill and Toni Ross know well as their Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht Our One Eighty is, for all intents and purposes, “home”, at Boston’s Charlestown Marina.
“Toni won’t leave the boat!” says Bill. “We took possession of the 5400 at the start of May and have probably stayed overnight in our townhouse only half a dozen times all summer. We have Starlink and great connectivity, so Toni works remotely full-time on board. We have a 5.5-year-old Yellow Lab, and we’re all so very comfortable. It has all the amenities we need: air-con, plenty of storage; Toni loves to cook, and we’re finding the galley very comfortable, and there’s plenty of fridge and freezer space.” Our One Eighty signals their transition, over the next couple of years, to enjoying retirement on the water. Having sold their properties, this year’s Rendezvous was a taste of the freedom and what’s to come on a more permanent basis.
“This is our third Rendezvous, and to us it’s like a family reunion,” says Bill.
A gleaming line-up of Rivieras at the dock, ready for some Provincetown adventures. The waterways around Cape Cod offer boaters so many opportunities to explore or relax in this pristine environment and ashore there is just a much variety of things to do, see and enjoy.
For Toni, the dune buggy tour along the Cape, followed by a sunset dinner on the beach afterwards, was a genuine highlight of the weekend’s organised activities.
“We watched the dinghy races and went to the casino night too, but we didn’t take part in the karaoke, that’s not quite our thing!” says Toni. The off-grid dunes experience was most meaningful, they say. Cape Cod’s beaches are wide and sandy, backed by protected dunes that run for miles along the Atlantic.
The Rendezvous offered owners time to unwind with friends, join excursions or explore the town at an easy Cape Cod pace.
“The dune buggy tour was a series of SUVs with about six or seven people in each vehicle, running along the beach and through the dunes. There’s a lot of history there and the dunes are very beautiful, sweeping, free flowing and changing over the years with the tidal movements and winds. We stopped to overlook the water in different places and ended up on this beautiful beach with seals in the water. Chairs were brought out for sunset, we had a fire and enjoyed a great lobster bake. It was spectacular,” says Bill.
Our One Eighty was one of four 5400SYs at the marina, all on the same dock with the owners sharing a fantastic time together. “We got together to talk about the places we’ve been and what we love about our boats, it’s a really good time. Everyone gets along, enjoying the event, enjoying each other’s company with great conversation, superb food and a fabulous venue.
Joining the Riviera family means stepping into a community of like-minded people who love the water and good company equally.
“It really is like a reunion! We wouldn’t miss that weekend, it’s so much fun and well-planned with the right balance of activity and free time; there was enough to do every day to stay connected with everyone, but still opportunity to do things on your own for part of the day, which was nice as well. It’s a wonderful town.”
Meanwhile, a few slips away, Darren Coder aboard his Riviera 505 SUV Resolution leaned into the adventurous side, joining the Bosuns Marine crew for sunrise fishing.
“We were line-fishing for striped bass, over the sides of the boat with a rod jigging; it’s a different process from how we fish down off Baltimore where we troll and drag the line for bass. One 5:30am day was enough for me though!” says Darren.
Provincetown’s magic lies in its blend of coastal beauty and rich history.
“It was my first trip on this Riviera, though my friend has a 5400SY so we know how well they’re made, and I’m extremely happy with it. I had a great weekend. When you get together with people who own boats, it’s hard not to have a good time! We had a really nice crew of Riviera owners there.”
Ashore, Riviera owners enjoyed the easy dining and lively venues. “Provincetown’s right at the very end of Cape Cod where it hooks back around. We had beautiful weather and the town is colourful, diverse and definitely worth the trip.”
Back on the water, Darren is pleased as punch with his 50-foot yacht purchase. “Riviera is such a quality boat; it’s really well made and extremely comfortable.”
For those eager to explore, the Cape’s iconic location offers endless anchorages to enjoy.
