Our latest Riviera Owners’ Photo Competition theme is as wide open as the ocean itself. We’re now calling on owners to submit shots from a recent adventure, or one of your most relaxing moments, aboard your Riviera yachts, anywhere in the world. And we’re thrilled to present these incredible submissions for your votes.
In every issue of Experience magazine, it’s an honour to showcase the fabulous photographs submitted by the Riviera family enjoying boating around the world. Our latest photography competition is more freestyle in nature, calling on all owners to submit shots from a recent adventure, or one of your most relaxing moments, aboard your Riviera yachts, anywhere in the world.
We have received some fantastic entries so far, and the Riviera HQ inbox has been overflowing with superb shots from across the globe, including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Mexico, Canada, the Philippines and the Netherlands. After much consideration, we’ve narrowed the field to 24 fantastic finalists for this issue. These can be viewed in all their glory below.
(1) “CALM IN BEHIND FRASER ISLAND”
Alan Kepper’s Riviera, DOM, in winter 2022 at Great Sandy Marine Park on their way north to the Whitsunday Islands. As Alan recalls: “There were calm waters in behind Fraser Island, and we motored slowly up the inside while we waited for the strong easterly winds to pass by the area. The wind abated on this day.”
(2) “6,000 MILES AT SEA” – LANCE MERKER’S RIVIERA, CAROLINE 2.0
We’re in awe of Lance Merker’s relocation journey and this shot of their Riviera, Caroline 2.0, was taken from the epic trip. “On our 6,000-mile voyage from California to Florida, via the Panama Canal, we motored for two months in some of the most beautiful parts of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.”
(3) “FEEL THE SERENITY” – AMELIA WHEATLEY’S RIVIERA, STILL KNOT AVAILABLE
We certainly can feel the serenity…this magical shot was taken by Amelia Wheatley of their Riviera, Still Knot Available. As Amelia explains: “Having had her for only about two months, we ventured out of Moreton Bay in Queensland, Australia, up to Fraser Island for a glorious 10 days! Here is the moon rising at the anchorage near Kingfisher Bay Resort – an absolutely beautiful spot.”
(4) “GOES, THE NETHERLANDS” – VAN HOFWEGEN GERRIT’S RIVIERA
A truly picturesque shot comes to Experience magazine from Van Hofwegen Gerrit of his Riviera, Brightside, in Goes, the Netherlands.
(5) “SUNRISE” – SIMON NOTT’S RIVIERA, 4 NOTTS II
This stunning submission titled “Sunrise” comes from Simon Nott, taken on a five-day long weekend with four Rivieras – including Simon’s Riviera 4 NOTTS II – cruising from the Gold Coast to Mooloolaba, in Queensland, Australia, and back again. Simon, we literally gasped when we saw this iconic shot.
(6) “RETURNING HOME” – PETER TURRELL’S RIVIERA, ALLURE
Peter Turrell took this outstanding shot in Bass Strait, Australia, aboard his Riviera, Allure, looking back to Flinders Island, Tasmania. “I shot this photo just after our early morning departure from Trouser Bay of Marlin after our circumnavigation of Tasmania on our way back to Melbourne. As you can see, we are up and running about 20 knots.”
(7) “ANZAC EVE, SAMEDI’S UNDERWATER LIGHTS VS AURORA”
– PETER LANGFORD’S RIVIERA, SAMEDI
As creative as it is beautiful, Peter Langford’s stunning shot from his Riviera, Samedi, in White Beach, Nubeena, Tasmania on the eve of Anzac Day 2023. We like to believe our Riviera yachts are a force of nature too.
(8) “READY TO GO, NONNO” – NICK ZINNI’S RIVIERA, ISOLA
Another submission from Rottnest Island is this beautiful photograph of Allegra calling up “Nonno Nick” aboard Nick Zinni’s Riviera, Isola.
(9) “DAUGHTERS” – JULIE HOLCROFT’S RIVIERA, NINA
“Special times with our daughters on Nina, here’s to many more!” Says Julie Holcroft about this fabulous shot taken aboard their Riviera, Nina, just off Pokohino Beach in New Zealand.
(10) “CHERRY COVE MOORING” – JOHN BECKER’S RIVIERA, STARLIGHT
Thank you to John Becker for submitting this fantastic shot of his Riviera, Starlight, on a Cherry Cove mooring off Catalina Island, California, U.S.A.
(11) “REMOTE SOUTH WEST TAS” – JASON KLOP’S RIVIERA, ST ELMO
St Elmo’s owner, Jason Klop, took this dreamy photograph of his Riviera at Ketchem Island, Tasmania, Australia. As Jason recalls, “We had an unbelievable weather window. Three days of conditions like this – on a coastline that is often inaccessible – fishing, diving and exploring the south-west of Tasmania.”
(12) “DIVING: CORON, THE PHILIPPINES” – GARY CHAPMAN’S RIVIERA, POLARIS 1
A submission which harks back to the heyday of iconic American photographer Slim Aarons, this shot of Gary Chapman’s Riviera, Polaris 1, was taken after completing a dive to explore the WWII shipwrecks in the Philippines’ Coron Bay.
(13) “SUNSET” – BRETT CLEARY’S RIVIERA, ABSOLUT
Mother Nature in a starring role alongside Brett’s Riviera, Absolut. This outstanding shot was taken on their way back to Absolut after sunset drinks on K’gari (Fraser Island) in Queensland, Australia. Brett, this photograph is a work of art.
(14) “MORETON MAGIC” – BEN BYTH’S RIVIERA, AMOROSA
Thank you to Ben Byth for this gorgeous shot of their Riviera, Amorosa, taken just off Moreton Island in Queensland, Australia. Ben says they had “spectacular weather and turtles for the kids on their kayaks”.
(15) “CALM SEAS” – STUART MCKAY’S RIVIERA, GNARLY
As Riviera owner Stuart McKay recalls, this shot was taken “On our epic trip from Perth, up the Western Australian coast to the Montebello Islands on Gnarly. It was a perfect day in Shark Bay, heading to Dirk Hartog Island and the famous Inscription Bar.” In our humble opinion Stuart, this amazing shot of Gnarly would look right at home in the Louvre.
(16) “OUR FAVOURITE SPOT” – RODNEY HEDEEN’S BELIZE, FINAL FINAL
We can see why. Rodney Hedeen shares this magnificent shot of his Belize, Final Final, anchored in a cove just east of Killarney, Canada.
(17) “SUNSET MAN O’ WAR BAY” – MIKE VIDAK’S RIVIERA, AROHA
This stunning shot, submitted by Mike Vidak, was taken on their first night aboard their new Riviera, Aroha, at Waiheke Island, Auckland, New Zealand. Wishing you many more lovely memories, Mike.
(18) “GRANDSTAND VIEW FROM RIVIERA 6000,SYDNEY HARBOUR CRICKET”
– ROY COHEN’S RIVIERA, PRONTO
What a shot! Photo submitted by Roy Cohen aboard his Riviera, Pronto, at Athol Bay Beach in Sydney Harbour, where his talented grandsons, Hugo (8) and Freddie (5), were playing cricket on the stickiest of wickets. Credit to the “umpire” for also lending a helping hand.
(19) “SERENITY” – MEGAN KENNEDY’S RIVIERA, SILVER LINING
This serene and truly stunning shot comes from Megan Kennedy of her Riviera, Silver Lining, on Lake Macquarie, in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. As Megan confirms, they were “anchored just in time for happy hour”. We wish we were there too, Megan!
(20) “DID YOU SAY SEAGULL?” – MIKE CARNEMOLLA’S RIVIERA, BLACKFIN 2
Mike Carnemolla submitted this photo of Bella, stalking seagulls, aboard their Riviera, Blackfin 2, at Drummoyne on the Parramatta River. Keep up the good work Bella; that’s an important job.
(21) “ROTTNEST LUNCHES, RIVIERA STYLE”– CHANTEL CURRIE’S
RIVIERA, THE BIG EASY
Kudos to Chantel Currie’s nine-year-old “boating and fishing mad boy” for this sensational haul caught in Narrow Neck, Rottnest Island, Western Australia, just in time for lunch.

We love the creativity of Judy Earl’s submission of the underwater lights from her Riviera, Cowboy, taken in San Carlos, Mexico.
(23) “GOTTA HAVE AN ALE WITH MY RIV!” – JUDI BILTON’S RIVIERA, REVELRY
Photo montage taken of Judi Bilton’s Riviera, Revelry, and the Long Neck Brewery on the Swan River in Perth, Western Australia. Judi adds, “What a way to celebrate my birthday with a Riviera Red Ale overlooking our very own Riv! Just living life to the fullest!”
