When Ben Hawkins was given the opportunity to take up an apprenticeship with Riviera Australia, he jumped at the chance.
The five simple, pre-programmed modes of the CZone digital switching makes operation of a comprehensive system easy.
Riviera’s advanced digital switching and power distribution system, designed to make your boating easier and more enjoyable.
At its core, CZone simplifies the management of onboard power by seamlessly distributing power from your batteries, shore power or generator throughout your yacht.
Riviera’s CZone system takes care of the details, allowing you to focus more on enjoying your time aboard. Imagine no longer needing to manually control every light, pump, or piece of equipment when arriving or leaving your yacht. With Riviera, all of this work is preset in modes and automated at the press of a button.
In addition to providing effortless control and monitoring of each circuit right at your fingertips, CZone optimises the management of your yacht’s power. This is achieved through five pre-programmed modes, tailored to suit different scenarios and each accessible with a simple touch.
One such mode is Sleep Mode, ideal for when you and your guests retire for the night.
Activating Sleep Mode powers down non-essential systems while maintaining vital functions such as navigation screens, courtesy lights, and essential systems like anchor lights and refrigeration. This intelligent feature also conserves battery capacity overnight.
Sleep Mode helps conserve power overnight by powering down non-essential systems.
Riviera E-News caught up with Matt Weetman, the Electrical Design manager for Riviera, to talk about the CZone system and its application on our yachts.
Matt’s role is to understand all the components that make up a Riviera motor yacht and ensure they are powered, controlled and fully integrated. From the engine packages, battery and navigation systems, Matt ensures functionality and onboard systems operation.
CZone has been designed to enhance your boating experience. Along with Sleep Mode, Matt says the other modes are:
Entertainment – Essentially this mode is there for you to be able to use your yacht at the dock or on anchor, cooking, watching TV and using the yacht in a more relaxed manner.
Cruising – When you’re planning to move the yacht, cruising mode allows you to do this simply. When activated, all the navigation equipment will turn on and behind the scenes we turn on the start battery switches (if applicable) and that way you can engage all the engines and all related running systems, ready for you to be able to take off from the dock or weigh anchor.
When it’s time to move, simply touch the Cruising Mode button and all navigational and engine systems are powered up.
Dock Unattended – Once you’re ready to leave the yacht all you need to do is press and hold the Dock Unattended button to shut the yacht’s systems down, ready for you to check shore power charging, and you can walk away confident that only the required circuits remain turned on.
Service – This mode provides power only to the mission critical items such as bilge pumps, for when the yacht is being serviced or put on the hardstand without shore power.
For the safety of people and systems, the Service Mode provides power to mission critical equipment only.
Matt emphasises that while the CZone modes simplify load control across the yacht’s systems, it does not automate power monitoring and charging. These critical aspects require owner supervision and management to ensure optimal performance.
Whether you’re relaxing onboard, cruising in coastal waters, or preparing to leave the yacht dockside, the Riviera programmed CZone system empowers you with intelligent control and peace of mind, monitoring all from a central location onboard or via an optional iPad. This ensures every moment on your Riviera yacht is as enjoyable as possible.
Your CZone system modes can be adjusted to suit your specific boating and electrical requirements. Your Riviera dealer representative can best advise you on this system and any additional requirements.
