2017 - RIVIERA 68 SPORTS MOTOR YACHT
The launch of the Riviera 68 Sports Motor Yacht created a new league for luxurious yachting. All of the refinements and developments at Riviera since 2012 came together in this one innovative design – quality, luxury, technology and – simply – style.
The Sports Motor Yacht design offered sporting looks, sports performance, a large sporting cockpit with an impressive array of motor yacht features.
Her spacious cockpit offers space for dive gear, fishing tackle and plenty more for the chef with two-grill barbecue centre and generous refrigeration. The wide and protected alfresco deck is the entertaining and relaxing hub and overlooks the cockpit. This space offers twin fold-out dining tables, twin lounges, plenty of space for occasional seating and a bar with swing-out stools that face the galley inside. A large stainless steel-framed glass awning window and door connects the alfresco deck guests with the galley immediately inside the saloon. There is even a TV that stays secluded in the headliner until you require it.
To the port side of the alfresco deck is a doorway leading down to a guest day head and a utility room or crew quarters.
The foredeck includes an option to create a spectacular open air entertainment space. Guests may access the foredeck from the cockpit along wide walk-around decks on either side of the yacht or through a water-tight pantograph side door from the saloon to the port deck. This foredeck includes a forward-facing lounge beneath the saloon windscreen and space for a large tender. Optionally, owners can select the addition of a pair of lounges that, once the tender is lifted away, allows the foredeck to become a grand space to meet for sundowners or enjoy brunch under the optional euro awning.
Entering the saloon, the aft U-shape aft galley is perfectly located to serve the alfresco deck and the saloon. Here is every detail the most discerning gourmet chef could desire: a four-element induction cooktop, range hood, oven with integrated convection microwave and grill, four drawer fridges and two drawer freezers, twin sink, a large dishwasher and plenty of storage both overhead and under-bench.
Forward of the galley is the main saloon with a long dining area on the starboard side with a large timber fold-out table. A second L-shaped lounge opposite stretches along the port side. This is a very social saloon.
A wide timber staircase beside the galley leads up to the flybridge while a companionway forward leads to the accommodation deck.
The flybridge is a space where guests will want to congregate on passage. As well as the central helm and companion seats forward, there are lounges along the starboard side and aft in front of an awning window that opens to the aft deck. This deck includes a dining area to starboard and a unit on the port side with a wet bar with sink, fridge, freezer and storage. There is also a comprehensive helm station incorporated into this portside unit.
The extensive accommodation deck offers three or four cabins plus a versatile utility room or crew cabin. The midships Master stateroom can be configured with an en-suite bathroom along the starboard side or as a full-beam suite with the bathroom forward, replacing the fourth cabin. The VIP guest stateroom and en-suite bathroom are forward. A third stateroom on the port side features twin side-by-side beds that slide together to create a double at the press of a button. This stateroom has en-suite access to the third bathroom that also serves as the day head. A fourth cabin with twin cross-over beds is available on the starboard side.
Aft of the Master stateroom there is a generous space that can be configured as a utility room or crew cabin, accessed from the staircase leading from the alfresco deck.
The Riviera 68 Sports Motor Yacht is powered by twin shaft-drive MAN V12 turbo diesel engines rated at 1,550 hp each. There is the option of MAN V12 engines rated at 1800 hp each.
The reviewer for Club Marine magazine described her as providing “the refined luxury of a European motor yacht with the edgy athleticism of a US-style sportfishing convertible”.
Yachting magazines stated that “her stability belies her speed, like a luxury sedan zipping down a highway”.
She featured on the front cover of Ocean magazine, Trade-A-Boat and Pacific Powerboat.
To date, Riviera has built nine of these magnificent yachts.
