2007 - RIVIERA 4700 SPORT YACHT
When the Riviera 4700 Sport Yacht was launched at the Sydney International Boat Show in 2007, she not only turned heads but she began to pick up awards.
She achieved triple award recognition – the industry’s Boat of the Year, Best Cruiser over 10 Metres and Modern Boating magazine’s Boat of the Year.
Here was a single-level entertainer that utilised a large pillarless awning window combined with a stainless-steel framed glass saloon door to bring the cockpit and saloon together as one. Adding to the outdoor environment, a large electrically operated sunroof could open above the saloon.
The large cockpit included a lounge across the transom behind a long timber table that could convert from dining to coffee height. A wet bar in the forward port quarter was complemented by an electric barbecue enclosed on the outside side of the transom, right beside a large garage door that opened to reveal a tender.
A large sunpad adorned the foredeck.
Inside, a long lounge and fold-out dining/coffee table were to port side while the galley and helm were to starboard. The fully equipped galley included a two-burner cooktop, convection microwave, drawer fridges, a drawer dishwasher and even a pull-out pantry.
Accommodation forward was made up of the master stateroom forward with en suite bathroom, a pullman-style bunk cabin to starboard and a twin bed cabin to port. The second, shared, bathroom was aft of the starboard cabin.
She was reviewed by media in Russia, Italy, Dubai, the US, New Zealand and Australia and featured on the front cover of Toys in Italy, Bahry International in Dubai as well as Boating Business, Go Boating and Trade-A-Boat in Australia.
Go Boating said the 4700 “can compete, in both fit out and price, with the European brands”. The reviewer concluded that she was a “major design achievement”.
Ocean magazine described her as “a brilliant indoor-outdoor entertainer”.
Standard power aboard the 4700 Sport Yacht was twin Caterpillar turbo diesel engines rated to 575 hp. However, many owners opted for the larger 715 hp Caterpillars.
In four years, 82 Riviera 4700 Sport Yachts were produced before this model was rebadged as the 5000 Sport Yacht in 2010 and it continued in production for another seven years and a further 71 yachts were built.
