2000 - RIVIERA 40 OPEN FLYBRIDGE

The much-anticipated Riviera 40 Open Flybridge was described as the “Millennium” model, heralding an entirely new look for Riviera boats.

Bluewater magazine stated the new Riviera “represents a quantum leap” in design. “The sleek, flowing lines of the 40 adds a purposeful air – it’s a handsome craft”, the reviewer wrote.

The compliments kept coming about the interior. The reviewer said: “you are greeted by magnificent glossy timbers and exquisite leather upholstery”.

She offered her owners two cabins and a single bathroom on the accommodation deck. The master included a walk-around queen bed with lockers on either side as well as wardrobes in both aft quarters. The large second cabin provided accommodation for three adults in pullman-style bunks and a single as well as a wardrobe.

The saloon included the step-down forward galley and optional layouts for the main area. Owners could select a lower helm on the starboard side in which case the L-shape dinette was located directly aft of the galley on the port side. Without a lower helm, the dinette was positioned on the starboard side, almost opposite the galley and an L-shape lounge with coffee table was to port.

A door on the starboard side of the aft bulkhead led to a large open cockpit that included a eutectic freezer unit as well as a hand basin forward.

A ladder on the port side of the cockpit led to the hard-top flybridge that followed the now-standard Riviera design, with helm and companion seats aft facing a comprehensive control and navigation panel with seating for guests forward.

Bay & Delta Yachtsman magazine in the US stated: “Riviera hit another home run with its new 40 Convertible”.
She was reviewed in publications across the globe, from South Africa to Japan, the US and New Zealand as well as Australia. She featured on a range of front covers, from Australia’s Power Boat, All At Sea and Trade-A-Boat to Power & Motoryacht, Sportfishing Boats and Sea in the US and Motor Boot in the Netherlands.

In pure numbers she was a popular Riviera with 288 built over eight years.
