2011 - RIVIERA 53 ENCLOSED FLYBRIDGE
You could be excused for thinking that this was a 60-foot yacht, given the internal volume. The 53 Enclosed offered full-beam midship stateroom with walk-in wardrobe, two additional cabins, crew quarters and a “sky lounge” flybridge that could comfortably accommodate all guests on board.
This was the evolutionary design of the Riviera 53 Enclosed Flybridge launched in 2011, that was dubbed the “space ship”.
The layout and amenities came after two years of consultation with yacht owners around the world and the adoption of Volvo Penta IPS power.
Owners and guests could take advantage of three separate and expansive entertaining spaces. There is the large cockpit with a barbecue unit built into the transom and a raised mezzanine with lounge seating. Or guests might prefer the saloon with its U-shape aft galley, induction cooktop, convection microwave, drawer fridges and dishwasher and, forward, two separate lounge areas, one including a large timber dinette table. Further, for a raised and expansive view and plenty of space for everyone on board, there was the three-sided enclosed flybridge with aft or forward helm, U-shape lounge around a timber table and wet bar.
The accommodation deck was equally luxurious with the midships master stateroom and its king-size bed, walk-in ‘robe and large en-suite bathroom, the forward VIP guest stateroom with walk-around queen double bed and lavish en-suite bathroom, plus a third pullman berth cabin.
India Boating stated she was “one of the most innovative and customer-driven convertibles ever built”.
Go Boating’s reviewer described “unprecedented living spaces, elegant amenities and superb performance”.
Trade-A-Boat stated she “delivers more of just about everything”.
She was reviewed in media in Spain, the Czech Republic, Russia, India, Japan, The United States, New Zealand and was featured on the front cover of Sea magazine and Power & MotorYacht in the US, Ocean and Trade-A-Boat in Australia.
The Riviera 53 Enclosed Flybridge was powered by triple Volvo Penta IPS 600s or optional twin 1200s.
Riviera built 36 “space ships” over five years.
