School Based Apprenticeships

In July each year, Riviera invites students, parents and schools to attend a presentation and twilight tour of the company’s world-class 16.8-hectare manufacturing facility.

Following this information session, students who are then interested in pursuing an apprenticeship with Riviera are able to apply to Riviera in writing sending a resume, copy of their most recent report card and a covering letter outlining which trade they are wishing to apply for.

Riviera currently offers the following School Based Apprenticeships:
Cert III in Polymer Processing (Composites)
Cert III in Marine Craft Construction
Cert III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade – Diesel Fitting
Cert III in Engineering – Fabrication – Welding
Cert III in Cabinetmaking – Furniture
Cert III in Furniture Finishing (French Polishing)
Cert III in Timber & Composites Machining
Cert III in Automotive Refinishing Technology (Spray Painter)
Cert III in Upholstery
Cert III in Electrotechnology (Cert II in Electrotechnology – pre requisite)

In the September school holidays, the Riviera Training Team organises for students that have applied to attend the factory for one week’s work experience. Once this work experience is complete, students attend an interview. Following the interview process those students who are successful and starting year 12 will receive a written offer to join the School Based Apprenticeship program. Students will also receive written confirmation if they are unsuccessful following their interview.

Those students who have been offered an apprenticeship are then invited along with their parents to attend a sign-on session at the factory where liaison officers and all registered training organisations will be present to facilitate training contracts. Immediately following this sign-on session, the Riviera Training Team will determine which day best suits each individual student’s timetable to attend at Riviera.

Throughout the year, the Training Team will undertake performance development meetings with each student to monitor their progress and provide feedback on their performance. If the student has performed well over the course of the year, they are then offered a full-time apprenticeship once they have completed year 12.
